\u3010Brief history\u3011<\/span><\/p>\n

The French Department was founded in 1981 to meet the growing demand for international business professionals, and a master\u2019s program was introduced in 2000.<\/p>\n

Since its establishment, the department has brought together faculty members specializing in diverse fields, including French literature, linguistics, film, art, politics, and culture. Our team includes 12 full-time professors, 5 part-time instructors, and French-speaking interns, forming a strong academic unit dedicated to both teaching and research excellence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We are the only French department in a public university in Taiwan. With intensive, small-class training<\/strong>, our students begin learning French from scratch and are gradually able to take courses taught entirely in French by their third year. Most students graduate with a DELF diploma ranging from B1 to C1 level. Our students actively participate in international\u00a0exchange and language assistantship programs<\/strong>, as well as internships<\/strong> with French-related enterprises, contributing to a vibrant international environment. Our graduates pursue successful careers across various fields with remarkable achievements.<\/p>\n

Our department also boasts a rich collection of films from France and other French-speaking countries. Over 2,000 DVDs are available through our Lumi\u00e8re Movie Center<\/strong>. In addition, our university libraries house a wide variety of French-language resources, including newspapers, journals, books, and even comic books.<\/p>\n

Our university is part of the Taiwan United University System<\/strong>, alongside National Tsing Hua University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, and National Chengchi University. Students benefit from a range of integrated resources, such as the ability to take courses at partner universities without additional tuition, borrow and return books across campuses, use inter-campus shuttle services, and participate in various joint programs.<\/p>\n
